indeed, I think we could work up a history about that.

Yeah, just depends on what we wanna do, crazy natural disaster, world war 3, aliens, zombies, etc?

and how much of the current history we want to bring into ours. Like do we want to start our history after the events of Fear Itself or after Avengers vs. X-Men storyline. Maybe we start our history with Secret Invasion and end that differently, with the Skrull actually conquering the earth.

Yeah true. Lots of options.

I stopped reading event comics after Civil War, I have very limited knowledge of those history points really so I don't much have any opinions on that.

Got to thinking that maybe we should just create our own history for the universe, kinda like we did with Batman. Could change alot of things like Captain America never being frozen and Bucky never becoming the Winter Soldier, the bombs never being dropped because of something cap did, Korean and Vietnam wars never happening, no cold war....

yeah, how far back should we alter the history though. Maybe the US lost the war for independance. never made the louisana purchase, remained seperate after the civil war. Maybe Alexander succeeded in conquering the known world, Julius Ceaser was never killed, the Vikings staied and conquered N. America.

How about we change it at World War 2, Hitler is assassinated in Operation Valkyrie and Nazi Germany is able to make terms with the Allies save for Russia. Germany and Russia continue their war with all the German troops on the western front now deployed and Berlin never falls to the Russians. Instead the war is prolonged and both the United States and The Third Reich both develop the atom bomb. The US having devoted all it's military might against Japan now invaded Japan fighting a bloody campaign there and eventually uses the Atom bomb on Tokyo rather than Hiroshima and Nagasaki forcing the Japanese surrender. Germany uses their atom bombs on Moscow and Leningrad forcing a Soviet surrender. Then after World War 2 is over The United States enters a Cold War with Nazi Germany.

That all sounds good. Though not sure that'd stunt Cap's being frozen. Technically it wasn't Nazis that contributed that, it was HYDRA.

I like it. Since Cap is arcuably the first super hero we can start with altering his history. Have him be part of Operation Valkryie, though not a prominant role. Him and Barnes can participate in covert ops against Nazi Germany recruiting others along the way. Russia and most of what was the USSR is now part of the Third Reich. Possibly include China and Japan in that too, or maybe the communist movement in China is successful and expands to most of Asia. Could create a three way power struggle with the US, Germany's Third Reich and Communist China

There's also Namor and Human Torch technically.

I still think Cap should, at some point, get frozen again anyway. For the sheer sake of iconography.

well yeah, there is the INvaders but he started it all. cryogenics or suspended animation to preserve the nations greatest hero after he suffers some major injury on a mission and is brought back in the new millenia when they finally have the tech to fix him

Eh. So then who else?

Well older heroes that Cap and Bucky recruit could include Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, Ant Man/Giant Man, Wasp, Bruce Banner. When he's revived we could see a young Spider Man, Cage, Iron Fist, Hawkeye, Black Widow..... Won't actually role play this early history but it is helpful to establish what happens to create the future we find ourselves in. Like maybe a third world war causes the world to be changed drastically and out of this the world is sent into a chaotic period. We are brought out of this period by an invading force that brings our heroes together, and is coincidently the reason most of them are now dead but thier sacrafice stopped the invasion, at least that's what the new world government tells the public. The truth is the invasion was a success but a deal was struck to send people to space for the aliens in exchange for them allowing earth to remain independant

And then fastforward to now where new people have taken up the mantles of old heroes and beat on criminals like nothing's wrong when, in actuality, there's something in the works bigger than all of them that's slowly causing the walls to close in around them.

yes indeed, but who would our heroes be fighting in a Utopia. Maybe they start out as mercs, of sorts, hired by the government to take care of 'rebels'

maybe rather than a utopia it's more of a dystopia like in Judge Dredd?

Either Dystopia or just like it is now just all futuristic and junk. I don't think Cap or Ghost Rider would take crap from the Government. Ms. Marvel maybe. (As the three characters I'd use. That and I'm really not big on the whole heroes with the government thing)

Possibly a world like in the new Total Recall movie, futuristic and in the middle of a big cold war.

I cannot, for the life of me, remember anything about the original Total Recall

It's been awhile since I've seen it, but I read the plot synopsis of the new one and they've changed it up a bit. The world is highly advanced and there are two super powers Euroamerica in the West and New Shanghai in the East locked in a cold war for control of the planet.
