OOC/Discussion Thread

Okay. Do you need help with some facet of that plan or are you just asking for a second opinion? Because either way, there's not much I can say other than "If that's the plan, shoot for it." It doesn't really involve anyone but Case, Arden, and Cervana, so there isn't really anything to work out unless you're trying to somehow work someone else it it. Angalacon's role in it is so minor and inconsequential, any of the big Sith could effectively fill it, so there's nothing to really work out, there.


Cap, I added B2-D2 to fill the Droid prerequisite... and to make Jarik not as alone in the masculinity department amongst a crew that's 90% female XD

So far it's only what I've got floating around in terms of ideas towards my girls. At the moment their storylines feature capts guys Maeror and Angalacon, but it would be cool to interact more with yourself and eon.

If you've got any ideas on how you could help out or anything else that I could play around with that would be great.

Maybe even if Teela was to head out on a mission with ford and jaxie, make her less boring lol.

Basically I'm looking at making my ideas more solid and concrete, and a way for myself to have my feet planted actively in the rpg.

Unfortunately it's tough when I'm on different time zones that when I do come online even if it's been a few hours, I'm far behind and the characters I was interacting with have moved on elsewhere. Makes it hard for shiney too who's not often able to make it on here daily and hourly.

I don't have anyone that'd really have anything to do with the Case arc outside of Nazrin outfitting Cervana with a shiny new robot arm. He'd otherwise stay as far away from this business as possible. And Eerie doesn't have an individual consciousness through which to involve herself... nor would she really add anything to the story. At all.


As for Teela... I really got nothin'. I can't very well just throw characters at her to interact with if they'd have no commonalities or quirks on which to interact. The only thing she seems to have in common with anyone is that she's an apprentice. There's no description on her personality to base any potential interactions on and in the maybe five lines she's spoken, there weren't really any idiosyncrasies to pick up on or any quirks... other than maybe she's a little nervous and worries a lot. But that's not really a big deal because so are Ena, Jil, and a few others. Example:

Ena isn't overly fond of Kitty because Kitty's a better mechanic than her and seems to be so with zero effort. It's a sort of knee-jerk jealous. And it's helped none by Kitty's braggadocios, devil-may-care attitude.

Jil, being a Cathar, isn't overly fond of the Mandalorian crew-mates. So she avoids them when possible.

Nix, who is a loner by nature and something of a free bird, doesn't enjoy being told what to do, least of all by Jarik or Ford - An Empire Cheerleader with a stick up his ass and an overly enthusiastic Jedi. So any interactions between her and either of them are usually markedly more hostile. Meanwhile she has something of a grudging respect for Zora. So she's typically less venomous towards her.

Ford and Qui-Gon argue... constantly... because they disagree on the Jedi Code... and because neither of them seem capable of minding their own bloody business. So someone or something always has to break 'em up. If Qui-Gon doesn't start the argument, you can bet your ass Ford will.

Tsuni and Cairn are both ballistic specialists and workaholics. Vacation time, for them, is calibrating giant guns. So they have conversations over that.

Jaxie is less Ford's "apprentice" and more his kid sister or younger friend. As such, they banter a lot. Jaxie affectionately refers to him as "boss." Meanwhile Jaxie's rather closed off to literally everyone else.

All unique dynamics born of quirks, commonalities, and idiosyncrasies between characters. If ya work on stuff that makes Teela stand out - little ticks and quirks, it'll be easier to play off of her.

That's all well and true but doesn't help me much in the meantime. I won't have a whole lot of time in the coming months id love something to keep me occupied for now.

Teela is an apprentice but the only parts I've mentioned about her is that she hasn't got a permanent master to train her and now Neri's injured. If you think about it, she'd be feeling hurt and lost. She needs someone with the time to teach her.

Okay that isn't an "If I think about it" because that isn't an assumption I'd automatically reach because not everyone would naturally feel that way. Why would she be feeling lost? Hurt, I can understand. Someone close to her got injured, yadda yadda. But just not having a master doesn't necessarily mean she'd feel lost. That's something unique to her. Which you could build on by working out some sort of reason from her past that she'd feel that way. Abandonment issues from childhood? Or the reverse extreme: overly clingy as a child? Sheltered? Never had to make a difficult decision on her own? Etc. Jaxie's an apprentice and the only thing she'd feel being separated from Ford is pissed that she can't quip with what's essentially her best bud. She ain't hurt or lost. Just annoyed. It's just born of a different attitude toward the whole thing.

In any even, it that's really all you want for her, I have literally no one for you. Maybe Tamil would be okay to train her but I don't have anyone qualified to teach her anything. In fact, really, Amidst the Saboteurs, no one's qualified to teach her. The only Knight they have is Lazuli and she was just knighted a few minutes ago in RP time. If Teela's hurting that much for a master, she needs to be on the main team. Ford, Salty, Tamil, Neri, there're plenty of people there who can teach her.

Hmm a lot to think about... What about putting that to one side?

If I created a new person what would be the best way of linking up with the others? I could certainly look into expanding on Teela, but even in real life we interact with those that we have nothing in common with. I'm trying to explore possible avenues of getting more involved but I get knocked back.

I'm sensing that you either didn't quite "get" about a third of what I said, considering most of those characters have nothing in common... at all. Nix/Jarik & Ford, Ford/Qui-Gon, Jil/Any Mandalorian... but whatever. There is no quick-n-easy solution to this. It comes down to writing. Creating a new character when you have one that's an almost entirely blank slate with room to be worked on just creates more work for you. But, if you so desire.

I don't know what you mean by "Linking up" if you don't mean "To get more interaction with". If that's what you mean, then just put someone on the main crew or BS a reason for Han/Luke/Leia to put them in the Saboteurs at the last minute and have the new character start talking to people. If you're talking about backstory connection, there is none. Literally speaking, none of the characters share any ties in backstory. None of mine, anyway. Can't speak for anyone else, but I don't tie backstories together. There comes a point where the effort to do that just gets contrived and unnecessary. Nor are my backstories particularly complex. No real mystery or intrigue. Just a lot of people, some of which had it a bit rougher than others. Nothing more, nothing less.


Zora is a former Jedi Knight, trained by Davik, who left because she felt that the teachings weren't for her. She's also a particularly powerful Psychic, with strong foresight abilities and Eerie is her sister. Whom the Sith kidnapped and Nazrin made into a puppet because she couldn't be otherwise controlled.

Jaxie was brought into the Jedi order probably around age 12 or so and they keep a particularly strong eye on her because it's clear that there's a keen potential for dark side influence in her.

Tsuni is a Republic commando whose sister was a Jedi, once upon a time, but died.

Kitty is literally nothing more than a Force sensitive scoundrel.

Cairn's just a bounty hunter and Kitty's adoptive father.

Major-1 is an Imperial Super Stormtrooper and pretty much has been their secret weapon for the last few years, winning battles for the Empire that they absolutely couldn't afford to lose.

Jil's a Cathar was left Jedi training after being saved by the Jedi from slavery to mandalorians. She's since joined Zora's group of force sensitive mercenaries.

Nix was taken in by the Sith at a young age, stolen from her family, and escaped as a teen, eventually becoming an assassin until her assassin family ran afoul of the Sith, who killed them all. So now she's understandably bitter and icy and rather hellbent on paying them back.

Siha's a sensitive empath with so far no real backstory. Just personality and interaction with others.

That's it. Nothin' that'd really benefit you, far as I can tell.

Hounds? It couldn't be a pride of angry lions? I mean if I'm gonna go out, I at least want it to be a grand show in a blaze of glory.

What, the thing addressing Nazrin? I can. Pretty easily. I'm just waiting for Cap and/or Eon to be able to toss up a post so I can respond to more than the one thing.

Pretty much yeah, that and people just lose all ability to drive in bad weather. Had to cut a lady out of her car last night she'd mangled it so bad. She was alright thankfully though.

Well, let's hope folks stay safe. From my understanding this one's every worse than that monstrous triple-blizzard from back in 09.

Oh yes. As I said. The rest of the country despises me, right now. Even my own mother recently sent me an email with a bunch of pictures, telling me how much she envies me XD

I actually enjoy the snow when I don't have to go anywhere. It's pretty. And snowball fights with dad are fun. Would be especially fun now that I can actually use the snow shovel as a catapult like he used to. The cheater.

Me and the guys at the firehouse usually get together and play a game of football in the snow, usually against a bunch from the Police Department. Always great fun.

Ah. Freeze Football. Is that even possible when the snow is up to your shoulders, though? XD

I just always find it bizarre that people have never seen snow. I mean... I live in Ohio, where it sometimes snows in August for no reason. So that's probably why xD
