Outbreak

James out out and took up his rifle. "Let me clear the SUV first...stay in the Humvee."

Rather than following his direct orders, Sera stood outside the driver's door with her sledgehammer in hand.

James opened the door and cleared the SUV.

She started searching soldiers for anything valuable.

James got some more water and ammo from the Humvee.

Sera carried ten gallons of siphoned gas to the humvee. "We can press on."

James smiled. "Ya know, I'm getting to like you." He chuckled loading the Humvee up.

"In which way?" Sera asked curiously climbing in.

James looked at her and smiled. "You've got a badass air about ya is all I'm saying." James said.

"Just surviving." Sera smiled and shrugged modestly.

James smiled and patted her on the shoulder. "Well get in, we still got a Journey's Greatest Hits CD to get through."

"Gonna be a long day." She said jokingly.

James chuckled getting in the humvee. "It's always a long day in zombieland."

Seraphina laughed in agreement. "Okay, we have to record everything we have."

James smiled. "Alright." He said driving. "Let's pull over there." He said heading to a abandoned gas station.

"Sure." Sera said, writing down each thing she was carrying.

James got out keeping a watch on the area for any zombies or raiders.

She stepped out and began recording each thing they were carrying. Sera watched two marauders pull up to her side of the humvee. She dropped the list and pulled her sledgehammer off her back, holding it with both her hands. "James" She called, slamming her sledgehammer into one of the maurauder's head. "James!"

A shot rang out and the second raider fell to the groun being shot in the shoulder. James came around his rifle still trained on the raiders. "You alright?"

"Yeah, just.. shaken." Sera put her hammer back on her back and jumped back into the car. "I think it's obvious it's not really safe to stop. Let's press on to our first destination.." She looked at a dirty map she had in her pack. "New Austin."

James nodded and got in the Humvee. He looked at the map and drove off heading to New Austin.

"Okay just head North from here. We actually should be really close." Sera said tryiong to decode the filthy map.

"Right." James said driving.

New Austin was a small neighborhood of dilapidated homes, mostly destroyed by nukes, and rusted metal between houses, creating a fully barriered city. Sera leaned toward James and honked the horn twice before getting out at the front gate.

"May I help you?" An old man asked. He held a shiny metal pike and had a rifle strapped to his back. "Who are you?"

"I am Seraphina. This is my friend James." She said signaling toward the humvee. "We're here to help. I'm a nurse. Do you have any hurt people?"

"We need water." He said. She could detect the thirstiness in his voice. "We need protection. All of our hurt people have died. There's a group of zombies living in an old subway station. They attack every night. We've had so many people kidnapped.. eaten.. right here. If you want to help us, you can take them out."

Sera nodded and poked her head back into the humvee. She looked at James. "Do you know if there are any subway stations closeby? We have to do a little zombie smashing." She walked to the back of the humvee and gave the man three gallons of water. "I'm sorry, this is all we have."

He thanked her and shut the gates nervously. She got back in the humvee.

James sighed. "Great...we're going after the Zombies." He said driving.
