Outbreak

"Oh, okay." Seraphina shrugged.

"Yeah." James said driving.

(Does that mean we'll all come together soon? I'd love someone to be at the base, and something to occur with the marauders.)

Heidi sat eating in the base's kitchen glancing at the soldiers, observing how they acted and ate quickly. It was like they always ran on schedule.

"So say this whole president's daughter thing is, like, true. What now?" one of them mentioned. Heidi immediately listened in pretending to resume eating.

The other soldier rubbed his beard, "Probably already dead, but if she's alive... I doubt it automatically gives her the right to have my plate of food before me."

Victor Hensen bit down on a cigar and immediately began to look through different papers. They were rather old and showed different articles about the outbreak. He sighed. "I wonder how long we'll be able to bunker up in this large place. Gotta get new supplies.", he murmured.

James saw the large building up ahead. "We can stop here."

"Where is 'here'?" Seraphina asked, looking at the building.

"A settlement." James said. "Look, buckets for catching rain water up on the roof." He said pointing.

"Great, we need some water. Hopefully they have a purifier." Seraphina said.

"If not, rain water is clean." James said pulling up to the gate.

"You're right. There's room to be picky in post-apocalyptia anyways."

"Yeah." James said waiting on the gate.

Seraphina looked around, outside the window.

Heidi noticed several soldiers and nurses got to their feet.

"What's the fire?"
"Nothing unusual, just an arrival at the gates. Have to check every vehicle thoroughly and offer assistance to any injured people."
"Oh... need me?"
"We'll call."

Sighing, Heidi sat back in her seat. She was a rescue officer hiding out in a safe camp to rescue herself, and she told herself this every couple of seconds.

(I'm asuming it's the same base we're talking about, Kari.)

"Zombies?", Victor asked as he entered.

James got out of the Humvee waiting to see if anyone would come out.

"Capt. Hunter our scouts have returned. There's a settlement about three clicks due east."
"Alright, start spreading the word all those able are leaving in thirty. I'll follow soon after with the rest."
The soldier saluted before running off to get the large group ready to move

Victor put on a coat and told a few soldiers to keep him covered as he went out.

James set his rifle on the hood of the Humvee as he saw Victor.

Capt. Hunter made his way slowly to the settlement, the group that went before him should be almost there.

"Greetings", Victor called and stopped.

"Hey!" James called back.

Victor looked over at their Humvee and his company. "Is there only two of you?"
