PostSubject: Fallen Skies   Fallen Skies Icon_minitimeWed Mar 30, 2011 5:19 pm

(New alternate reality fic combining Haven City with elements from movies like ID4, Battle: Los Angeles. Haven't really done a fic that wasn't about James and the Symbiote so I thought I'd do something new.)

Chapter One
A Marine stands on a hill, holding his M4A1 Carbine in one hand, pointing down at the ground. He watches as a city burns and explosions erupt from within it. The fiery hues from the city illuminating the surrounding area and giving a stark contrast the night sky above. The Marine sighs taking his helmet off and dropping it as he leans against a tree on the hill that overlooks the city. The Marine sighs again running his hand over his short hair. He looks up into the sky at the massive behemoth that now floats above it. The skies fell that day and the world was changed forever.

Two days prior; United States Marine Corps Base: Camp Basilone, Haven City, Rhode Island.

“God damn it move it Marines! You wanna get yourself shot?! Move your slow asses! GO! GO! GO!” Staff Sergeant James Miller barked at his new platoon as they crawled through mud and pig guts under barbed wired as another Marine fired live over them to make sure they kept their heads down, through fear. James sighed timing his platoon as they crawled. They were out of basic from Paris Island and were all good Marines but they were green, they had no combat experience. James however was a veteran; he’d done several tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He had fought in the bloody Battle of Fallujah and seen good Marines die. “God in Heaven I swear I will skull fuck you Corporal Johnson if you do not move your ass!” James growled at one of his squad leaders who was making poor time. James grumbled watching as the unit finally finished. “Holy shit! You ladies are finally done with the drill! It only took you double the company average…and you know what? That’s a fucked up situation.” James said walking over to the Marines who were in full combat gear. James was in full gear as well but had his helmet set down on a ammo crate. He walked up and down looking at his men, they were exhausted. “Now…how do we un-fuck this situation?” James said looking at one of his men, Private Jon Ellis. Ellis was a young Marine, the youngest in his platoon in fact, he was only seventeen. Private Ellis’ mother had signed permission for her son to join the Marine Corps at seventeen and being the youngest in the platoon he had earned the nick name ‘Babe’. Ellis swallowed looking up at James who stood an imposing six foot five inches compared to his five foot nine inches. He was to say the least intimidated by Staff Sergeant Miller, even though Miller was probably one of the more caring NCOs in the division and had earned the nickname ‘Dad’ among the men for always being there when his Marines needed him. However Staff Sergeant James Miller demanded the best from his men at all times. He was the Vince Lombardi of Bravo Company. “I’m sorry, did you not hear me?” SSgt. Miller said leaning in towards Private Ellis. “I asked you how do we un-fuck this situation?”
“Um…we…run the drill again?” Private Ellis stammered a little trying to hide his intimidation. James just smirked a little and stood straight and put his hands on his hips.
“By God, we might just make a Marine out of you yet Ellis.” James said patting Private Ellis on the shoulder hard causing him to stumble a little. James was built to say the least. He was tall, muscular, and very strong, he was the epitome of a US Marine as some would say. “Alright Marines, line up and run it again! And this time I want to BEAT the fucking company average…no fuck that the company record!” He barked. “And if we can’t we’ll run it until we fucking can!” James bellowed. His Marines sighed and groaned before quickly moving back into position to start the drill again while the machine gunner reloaded his SAW. James crossed his arms as he stood by the gunner as the loud booms of the machine gun went off into the air, high enough to so they wouldn’t hit the Marines but low enough to make them shit their pants and think twice about standing up.
That night
James opened the door to his home on base as he walked in. He could smell dinner already and he smiled as he walked from the entrance hall and into his living room setting his keys and cover down on the coffee table.
Jannelle Grady smiled hearing the front door open and the sound of her fiancé’s keys hitting down on the coffee table. He always got home at 7:00PM every day except on Mondays when he was getting home at almost midnight. She turned around just in time to see him walking into the kitchen and she walked over and put her arms around his neck.
“Hey you.” James smiled kissing her as he took his hands to her hips as she returned the kiss. “How was your day?”
“So so.” Jannelle said. “Had a few sessions with some new patients but I was glad to get home. Wanted to try my new pasta sauce recipe tonight.” She smiled. Jannelle was a wonderful woman. A very successful psychiatrist who owned her own practice in downtown Haven City and even had some articles and a book published and she was still young. James smiled at her and he smelled the air over the stove behind Jannelle.
“Well, it sure smells good.” James smiled at her. “How long until dinner is ready?”
“About an hour.” Jannelle smiled. “Just enough time for you to grab a shower and get all your dirt and sweat off.”
“Read my mind.” James smiled.
“Like always.” Jannelle smiled kissing him before she watched him walk out of the kitchen and down the hall to their bedroom. Jannelle loved how James looked when he’d come home, a little dirty and in his uniform. Jannelle bit her lip before turning around and going back to cooking their dinner.
Later that night
James smiled laying back in bed with his arm around Jannelle who was curled up next him running her finger over his chest with a small smile on her face. They weren’t married just yet but they would be in a month or two and they’d decided to start trying for a kid now since they both made good money and were financially secure. “So…” Jannelle started. “Sara and the girls and I are gonna go out and get the dress finalized tomorrow.”
“That’s good.” James said rubbing her side. “What time you think you will be home?”
“Maybe…around nine.” Jannelle said. “We’re gonna go after my sessions tomorrow.”
“Alright, I’ll have a late dinner ready for ya when ya get home.” James smiled. “It is my turn to cook tomorrow.”
“Yes it is.” Jannelle smiled up at him. “God I can’t wait.”
“For what?” James smiled. “My cooking isn’t that good.” He chuckled.
“No, not that.” Jannelle smiled sitting up on the side, using her elbow to prop herself up. “I can’t wait to be Mrs. Miller.” She smiled rubbing his chest.
“Ahh.” James smiled. “Well I can’t wait either.”
“I know…gosh all the benefits I’ll get.” She teased, causing James to chuckle a little and pull her down to him kissing her.
“Ya know, your lucky you’re not in my unit, cause if you sassed my like that I’d have to discipline you.” James smirked kissing her.
“Mmm, discipline me huh?” Jannelle grinned moving herself on top of him.
“Yeah.” James grinned up at him.
Meanwhile; Camp Basilone Barracks
“Fuck man…” Private First Class Jeffery Casanova said rubbing his thigh. “Staff Sergeant Miller is working us like dogs man…” PFC Casanova was known for his complaining but he was right this time, SSgt. Miller was working the platoon harder than normal, but that was because they were about to be deployed to Afghanistan and he wanted his men to be ready. “I mean shit man how is all this shit allowed?”
“Oh stow it Casanova.” Private Paul Eley said laying back on his bunk. PVT Eley was one of the men in the company who was going to do a few tours and then get out to get into Law Enforcement, as a SWAT Officer. He was also one of the tougher grittier men in the platoon and he worshiped his Staff Sergeant. “Staff Sergeant is just getting us ready for combat, of course it’s gonna get harder now.”
“I just hope he gives us one day off.” Private Ellis said walking in and tossing a towel on his bunk. “I mean we haven’t have a weekend pass is what? A month?”
“Two months Ellis.” Corporal Shaun Pride chimed in from his bunk as he read a copy of ‘The Crater’ a book detailing the Battle of Petersburg that took place during the American Civil war. CPL Pride was very interested in military history and was one of the more articulate men in the unit. He was also Staff Sergeant Miller’s go to man besides the Squad Leaders. CPL Pride was on the fast track to making Sergeant in a few years. “He’s getting us ready guys, we’re not gonna get weekend passes when we’re on the frontlines but he will give us one more. Ya know to say goodbye to our families and what not.” He said as he turned the page in his book.
“God…has it seriously been two entire months?” PFC Casanova said. “Fuck me…” He sighed laying back.
“Yeah no one fucks you Casanova.” PFC Nicholas Hedges, who was more or less the wise ass of the platoon, and the one who constantly irritated Staff Sergeant Miller with his sarcastic remarks. Though he was right in this case, Casanova was no Casanova he always had trouble picking up girls due to the fact he used terrible pick up lines whenever possible.
“Oh shut your damn mouth.” PFC Casanova said.
“Lights out Marines.” Sergeant Rodney Neu said walking into the barracks. “Staff Sergeant Miller has a long day planned for us and we’re getting assigned our new Lieutenant so get some shut eye.” Sergeant Neu was one of the three Sergeants under Staff Sergeant Miller who was in turn under their Lieutenant. Neu however was a grizzled vet and was actually older than Staff Sergeant Miller but he preferred leading a Squad to being second in command of a Platoon. Neu was Miller’s good friend and one sort of his right hand man in the unit as they had served together before in Fallujah.
Little did the Marines know of for that matter tomorrow would in fact be the longest day of their lives.

Might use Keith and Frank, though I'm changing people up a little. No one is gonna have powers and the Special Corps is the Fourth Marine Division.

Chapter Two
Staff Sergeant James Miller sat in the passenger seat of a HUMVEE as it drove on the base. James had his arm out of the window enjoying the cool air. Sitting next to James in the driver’s seat was Master Gunnery Sergeant Keith Hart. Keith was a career Marine like James. In fact when James was just a Private it was Keith who instructed his training unit at Paris Island and the two ended up serving with each other in Iraq becoming close friends ever since. James looked over at Keith.
“So…this new Lieutenant? What’s his deal?” James asked. Keith chuckled a little and sighed before looking at James.
“His name is Jason Rojas and he’s fresh out of OTS.” Keith said with a slight smirk. James looked at him and blinked before sitting up.
“You’re shitting me? Command sticks me with a damn butterbar two weeks before deployment? God damn it.” James said. “My job load just doubled.” James was far from enthusiastic about getting a green Second Lieutenant to go along with his mostly green platoon.
“Yeah I know.” Keith said. “But hey I remember the days when you were green.” Keith pointed out. “You weren’t always the experienced Marine you are now, and neither was I.”
“Yeah but we weren’t responsible for men back then, I was a Private. I just followed orders. Oh well someone has to do it.” James said as Keith pulled up to the command building. Keith and James got out of the HUMVEE and headed inside to meet the young new Second Lieutenant. James followed Keith into a small office where a desk sergeant sat doing some paper work. He looked up seeing the two other sergeants enter and he sat up.
“Ahh Master Guns Hart and Staff Sergeant Miller, Second Lieutenant Rojas is right over there.” He said pointing to a young man sitting in the opposite part of the room talking with a couple other of the new platoon leaders.
“Thank you Sergeant.” Keith said giving him a quick salute as the Sergeant saluted his two superior NCOs. Keith and James walked across the room and up to the three Lieutenants.
“Second Lieutenant Rojas.” Keith said walking up and giving him a salute as did James. One of the Lieutenants turned to face them and saluted them back as the other two officers walked up.
“Top.” Rojas said as they finished their salute.
“This is Staff Sergeant Miller, he’ll be your Platoon Sergeant. He’s a great NCO and he’ll help you along.” Keith said. “I’ll leave you two to your intros I’ve got to report to General Mason.” Keith said before walking off. James looked at Jason Rojas sizing him up a bit. He was young, looking to be in his early twenties. Rojas stood at 6’2 and was muscular but in a different way than James was. Where James was broad and strong looking Rojas was lean and athletic. James extended his hand to Rojas.
“Good to meet you sir.” James said and Jason took his hand shaking it.
“Good to finally meet you too Staff Sergeant, I’ve read your file when I was told you were to be my Platoon Sergeant.” Jason said with a small smile. “But I wanna make something clear Staff Sergeant.”
“Yes sir?” James asked nodding.
“Well, this is my platoon so I’ll be leading it and I don’t need and help ‘getting along’.” Jason said. James just smiled. This young Second Lieutenant was going to be fun to knock down a few pegs.
“Sir, if I may.” James said putting his hand up chest level. “My job is not to help you get along but to help you lead, but you are in command so at the end of the day I take my orders from you. We won’t have a problem with that but sir, I’m here to assist you not usurp your command. Last thing I want is a divided platoon, so we won’t have any problems.”
“Good, now I’m anxious to meet the men.” Jason said. “Let’s go Staff Sergeant.” He said walking out with James following him out and then leading him from the building. Jason took a small breath, he was a little nervous about his first command but he was excited as well.
Private Ellis looked out the window of the barracks seeing Staff Sergeant Miller and a slightly shorter man, an officer walking with him.
“Oh shit hey guys our new Lieutenant is here.” Private Ellis called out into the barracks. Corporal Pride looked up from cleaning his M4A1 Carbine with interest.
“Oh awesome, alright men get up.” Pride said setting his carbine on his bunk as Sergeant Neu walked out of his office and to the door opening it as Staff Sergeant Miller and Lieutenant Rojas entered the barracks.
“Officer on the deck!” Staff Sergeant Miller barked and all the Marines in the platoon stood up at attention. “Floor is all yours Lieutenant.”
“Alright men, I’m Second Lieutenant Rojas.” Jason said looking out at the Marines he was to command. “I’m your new CO and I want to make one thing clear, I will be stern but fair and I will lead you men to the best of my abilities. Now I’d like to get to know you men a little before we get into today’s training.”
Meanwhile; Camp Basilone Command Center
“Sir we’ve just gotten an alert message from Washington, all forces are mobilizing.” A officer said walking into the office of Lieutenant General John Talbot. Talbot was a serious man and a Marine through and through. He was also an excellent combat leader. However he was only two days from retirement and he was not expecting to have his entire division mobilized.
“What for Captain?” Talbot asked setting his pen down.
“Not sure yet, but it’s big sir all units across the country are being mobilized. Intelligence also came through that all NATO nations are mobilizing and so is China, Russia, and North Korea.”
“My god.” Talbot said sitting back for a moment. World War III could be starting he thought. He sighed and looked at the Captain. “Issue the order to all commanders to mobilze their men.”
“Yes sir.” The Captain said giving him a salute. “The Joint Chiefs are preparing another intel update in 20.”
“Very good.” Talbot said saluting him back and he stood up from his desk.
Meanwhile; Downtown Haven City
Jannelle walked out of her office with one of her patients. She offered him a warm reassuring smile before sending her patient on their way.
“I’ll see you next week Jane.” She said as he patient left. Jannelle walked over to her secretary. “So I’m hoping I only have the one more appointment in twenty minutes today right?”
“Mhm, your all clear after that.” The secretary smiled. “You and James going to go out or something?”
“No but I’m going to finalize some things on the wedding.” Jannelle smiled. “That way I can get home to James a little earlier than I thought.”
“Oh sounds like you’ve got plans for tonight then.” Her secretary smirked.
“Oh hush.” Jannelle smiled, even though it was true. Jannelle’s secretary looked past Jannelle at the flat screen TV on the wall that usually ran the news for her patients, a special report had come on and her secretary turned it up. The screen showed the beach on the other side of town a huge silhouette could be seen in the distance. Jannelle watched intently as a newscaster’s voice came over.
“All around the world these large objects have appeared off the coasts of major cities, so far New York, Boston, Haven City, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Norfolk, and Miami have seen the same phenomenon and cities like Hamburg, Germany, London England, Tokyo, Japan, and Paris, France have seen the same thing across the nation military forces have been mobilized and all civilians in these cities have been ordered to begin evacuations.”
“What the?” Jannelle asked. “Evacuate?”
“Wow short notice huh?” Her secretary said. “I swear they never-“ She was cut off by the sounds of fighter jets flying over the building and the sounds of explosions erupting in the distance. Jannelle and her secretary looked at the TV again, the screen was just static.
“I think we need to go…” Jannelle said picking up her phone and keys.
One Hour Later…
The VTOL carrying Marines shook as explosions went off near by and Staff Sergeant Miller walked up the aisle issuing last minute orders to his Marines and he looked seeing Private Ellis looking down, obviously scared by what was happening. James sighed and he walked over.
“Private Ellis.” He said crouching in front of him.
“Y-yes sir?” Private Ellis said looking at him.
“Don’t worry son, you’ll be fine.” James said patting him on the helmet. “Your training will kick in soon, just keep a level head and stick with your fire team.” James said giving the young private a warm smile. Private Ellis smiled and nodded sitting up a bit, James had that effect on his men. He was good at motivating the Marines under him and Private Ellis felt a sense of courage come over him.
“Oorah Staff Sergeant.” Ellis said.
“Oorah Marine.” James said standing up. He walked over one of the windows and looked out seeing explosions and firefights going on down in the streets below. He saw Marines shooting at odd looking soldiers and he saw large bi-pedal vehicles walking down the street firing at M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tanks. This didn’t look like any military force he’d seen before and he suddenly felt a little worried. He didn’t like fighting something he knew nothing about.
Within ten minutes the MV-22 landed at Haven International Airport and Staff Sergeant Miller and the rest of the Squad one that particular Osprey disembarked regrouping with the platoon. The airport was serving as a Forward Operating Base of FOB for the Marines, Air Force, and Army units that were moving into the city and ones already in the city engaging the attackers.
James stood next to Lieutenant Rojas and Sergeant Neu with the rest of their platoon behind them in the assembly area. A colonel was up on a set up stage with a map of the city behind him.
“Alright Marines listen up!” The colonel shouted. “We are at war with an unknown force, they are well armed and they are not of this world.” Those words struck the Marines hard. James cocked his eyebrow, not of this world he thought they were going to be fighting aliens? He’d seen this a thousand times in movies and on TV but he never thought he’d have to actually fight aliens, especially with his very green unit. “We estimate enemy forces to be at over 200,000 strong and they have taken the beaches and the residential neighborhoods surrounding them. US Army units from the 1st Infantry Division and Third Armored are engaging enemy attackers just outside the downtown area and second battalion s currently engaging the enemy along the Army’s flank. Now listen up the Air Force and our aviators are currently locked in a pitched battle to take the skies so we will not have air support on a large scale yet, now platoon leaders get your orders from your company commanders and get out there and tear the enemy a new ass hole!” The colonel said before getting down and walking into the hangar behind the stage.
Lieutenant Rojas walked over to Captain Winters their company commander for orders while James stayed with the platoon to get the men ready mentally.
“Aliens? Are you fucking serious?” Private Ellis said in disbelief. “That’s not fucking possible is it?”
“We’ll find out soon enough brother.” Corporal Pride said nodding at Ellis.
“Staff Sergeant you ain’t gonna let ET anally probe me are ya?” PFC Hedges smirked.
“Stow that shit Marine.” James said to Hedges. “No time for jokes now, every pull your heads from your asses and get ready, check ammo, and make sure you flip those safeties off once we get into it and watch you sectors.” James instructed as Lieutenant Rojas walked over.
“Alright platoon our orders are simple, hold the line at 21st and Oakley the National Guard is evacuating civilians and they need cover, we’ll be linked up with armor from third battalion so we’ll have plenty of fire power.” Rojas said.
“Oorah.” Private Eley smiled adjusting his M249 Squad Automatic Weapon.
“Alright Marines, let’s move.” James said heading to the troop trucks and HUMVEEs waiting for them, they couldn’t go any farther using aircraft for fear of being shot down by the attackers fighters soaring above that were dog fighting with USAF F-22s and Marine Corps F-18s and F-16s. James stood looking up in the sky for a second seeing a few fighter jets fly over as the Marines got into their vehicles. James looked at Sergeant Neu before he got into the truck. “Alright Sergeant once we stop you get these Marines out of the truck and into cover immediately we will be coming in under fire most likely, not fucking around now Sergeant.” James said.
“Yes sir.” Sergeant Neu said nodding before getting into the truck. James reached down and grabbed the gate on the back and flipped it up and shut before he walked ahead to the lead HUMVEE getting in and sitting next to Lieutenant Rojas who was sweating more than everyone else and was struggling to write out what looked like a will. James looked at the young officer.
“Sir are you alright?” He asked as the convoy started to move.
“Yes Staff Sergeant.” He managed to force out, he was obviously a little shaken by the idea of going into battle, especially against so called aliens. James looked at him and leaned in.
“Lieutenant, just remember I’m here to help you.” James said. “You’re not leading these men alone.” He said. Lieutenant Rojas looked at him and nodded.
“Thank you Staff Sergeant.” He said. James nodded and sat back, he sighed a little he wasn’t scared for himself, he couldn’t help but worry about Jannelle. He’d hoped she made it out already, they only got to talk for a few minutes before he had to get mobilized. He shook his head shaking those feelings loose, he couldn’t dwell on anything but the mission now or else he’d be getting good men killed.

Chapter Three
The city was engulfed in a huge battle now, from the air the southern part of the city that was on the coast of Rhode Island was aflame and engulfed in a huge battle the likes of which Earth had not seen. Explosions ripped buildings apart and destroyed abandoned cars as US soldiers and Marines battled against their alien foes, blue bolts of energy being fired from their weapons and cutting through their human adversaries causing both burns and penetration wounds.
James hopped out of his HUMVEE and he brought his M4A1 up, gripping the foregrip under the barrel and looking down his ACOG scope downrange, he spotted a few of them as the rest of the platoon got out of their troop trucks. James was a little startled at the sight of the enemy. They looked similar to humans as far as he could tell. They were bipedal, hand arms, hands, and legs and a single head. This gave James a little hope, if something had a head-aim for it.
“Move! Second Squad set up here, get those machine guns set up I want this line held until those tanks get their slow asses up here.” James barked turning his head to his men and lowering his carbine. He looked at Lieutenant Rojas. “Alright sir it’s your rodeo now.” He said. Rojas just looked at him and blinked before nodding quickly. Before Rojas could get a word out they were taking fire, the blue bolts of energy came zipping at them and hitting the sides of buildings and cars leaving black scorch marks.
“Shit!” Corporal Pride said ducking and tripping down hitting the ground and crawling to a car taking cover, he was lucky as two other Marines got hit as they moved to cover, one in the chest and the other in the head killing them both. Pride wiped some sweat from his face before peeking around the car one of the aliens was in the open so Pride brought his M4A1 Carbine up and fired a burst of rounds down range, hitting his mark. The Alien stumbled a bit from the impact of the rounds. The aliens wore yellowish armor over a blue looking uniform with a tan helmet that covered their entire head and stretched out about a foot and on the front was two red optics positioned one over another. They carried large looking rifles as well. Corporal Pride grunted and fired another burst hitting his mark yet again on the alien, this time a blue liquid spurted out from the aliens back and it fell back and didn’t get up. Pride smirked but didn’t have long to celebrate his first kill before dozens of blue bolts came his way and he went back behind the car. Staff Sergeant Miller was moving up to what remained of a brick wall in a building with PFC Casanova and Private Eley.
“Eley set up here, Nova use that 203 and hammer those bastards.” James said taking his M4A1 up and opening up scoring a kill as one of the aliens moved from one side of the street to another, clipping it in the leg and then scoring two hits one to it’s neck and the other right through it’s helmet. PFC Casanova moved to a window firing a forty millimeter grenade round out with a audible thump noise before it landed near a group of aliens sending a couple into the air. Private Eley had laid down flipping the bi-pod on his M249 SAW as Casanova fired his grenade launcher. PVT Eley aimed down his sights on his machine gun and opened fire spraying the aliens positions with rounds.
“You two hold this spot and keep them pinned down, Nova you keep Eley covered.” James said. PFC Casnova looked at James and nodded before firing rounds down range. James moved out of the building looking into the street, the platoon was spread out too thin. Private Ellis had moved up next to Corporal Pride and was struggling to reload his carbine as Pride fired down range. James sighed, he didn’t have time to go and pat Ellis on the back for the umpteenth time. He searched around with his eyes for Lieutenant Rojas who he could not see. “God damn it…” James grumbled, he poked his head out from the doorframe he was standing in and looked down range firing a few pot shots before sprinting and slide behind cover next to Sergeant Neu and PFC Hedges. “Either of you seen Rojas?”
“No sir.” Neu said putting a fresh mag into his M4A1 before popping up and firing down range as blue bolts zipped by.
“Haven’t seen him sir.” Hedges said ducking out of the way of a bolt before looking at James. “To be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if he was off jacking his dick like most officers.”
“Shut up Private.” James said. “Keep firing and don’t fucking die I’m going to find the Lieutenant, Sergeant Neu you’re in command til I get back.”
“Yes sir.” Neu said firing, not bothering to look at James. James sighed and looked around before running towards the convoy but keeping low as blue bolts flew over head and past him. James turned a corner to where their trucks where and he looked seeing a Marine crouched behind cover, not moving other than his heavy breathing and wide scared eyes. It was the young Hispanic lieutenant Rojas. He looked up seeing just the silhouette of Staff Sergeant Miller.
“Lieutenant?” James asked walking over to him. “Get up, we got a job to do.”
“I-I can’t…” ‘Rojas said shakily. “I just…can’t…” James’ face contorted a little hearing those words, his fears were realized in this green lieutenant. James slung his M4 behind his back and he leaned down and grabbed the Lieutenant by his collar and picked him up slamming him against the wall.
“God damn it Marine get your ass in gear, you’re men are over there fighting and dying while you just sit here like a fucking girl!” James shouted. “Now move! Make a decision, left, right, up, or down I do not fucking care but make a decision and give your men some fucking orders we are getting the shit kicked out of us here!” Rojas just looked at James for a few seconds before blinking.
“Get…get the men to fall back to this position so we can dig in…the tanks should be here soon.” Rojas said getting a little bit more composed.
“Don’t tell me, tell them.” James said letting him go and brining up his carbine. Rojas nodded and picked his M4A1 up and sniffed a little.
“Sorry Staff Sergeant…” Lieutenant Rojas said.
“Just move it sir.” Miller said. “Don’t have time for this yet.” He said turning the corner and firing down range as Rojas followed. They moved in tandem to the sedan Neu and Hedges were using for cover. “Lieutenant got pinned by a sniper.” James lied convincingly, he didn’t want the men knowing their leader was scared shitless. “Sergeant Neu go and tell the men over there we are falling back to the trucks better cover-“ James was cut off by the sound of loud thumps. James looked down the street seeing a one of the bipedal walkers, it was tall about 17 meters in height and had to cannons aimed down towards them with two smaller ones mounted on the ‘chin’ of it, they looked like antipersonnel guns while the two on top were anti-tank. “Oh…shit.” James said then the cannons fired and two large blue energy blasts hit a car making it explode and sending four Marines into the air killing them. “FALL BACK!” James shouted as he stood up firing down range. “FALL BACK!”
Corporal Pride grabbed Private Ellies by his shoulder and pulled him up as the two of them ran as fast as they could running past their mighty Staff Sergeant as Lieutenant Rojas, PFC Hedges, and Sergeant Neu pulled back firing a few shots along with the other Marines in their platoon.
James looked to his left towards the building Eley and Casanova were in and he saw they were not moving from their spots as they fired. “PULL BACK!” James shouted as loud as he could at them then he watched the walker turn towards them.
“Shit Eley we gotta move!” Casanova said firing as Eley got up as fast as he could. It wasn’t fast enough though before they even got towards the door the walker fired. Staff Sergeant Miller watched helplessly as two of his best Marines were just vaporized. His eyes wide and he looked at the walker as he turned it’s focus towards the street again walking down the street as the aliens displaced from their positions advancing down the street. James grunted and looked around seeing a fallen Marine with a AT-4 anti tank rocket launcher on his back. James crouched down and picked it up flipping the safety up and he took a knee as he brought the launcher up on his shoulder and aimed down the sights at the walker which had yet to see him. The launched made a audible beeping noise as he locked on and the walker spotted him aiming it’s guns towards him.
“Welcome to Earth.” James said firing the rocket and it screamed as it flew towards the large walker scoring a hit and causing the entire upperbody to go up in a fiery explosion killing several of the alien infantry forces near it. James tossed the launcher aside and smiled before he brought his rifle back up and ran off to the rest of the platoon.
“Where’s the Staff Sergeant?!” Private Ellis yelled not seeing the one man who really gave him any courage, the Staff Sergeant was his hero and if the strongest man in the unit wasn’t around he was gonna lose it.
“Right here Private.” James said hopping over a car hood and dropping down next to him and he looked down at Sergeant Neu. “Walker is out.” He said. Sergeant Neu just chuckled.
“Alright John Wayne.” Neu said before looking at Rojas. “Well Lieutenant? What are your orders?”
“Dig in here…and stop em cold.” Rojas said before looking at James as if asking for his approval. James just nodded and moved from his sitting position into a crouch.
“Sounds good to me.” James said. He looked out to the rest of the platoon. “Alright, dig in and kill anything coming this way Marines! Let’s kick ET’s ass!” James shouted.
“Oorah!” The platoon shouted in unison before taking up several different positions along the street, covering the way they had fallen back from and the two streets leading to their position. James looked down the street he’d just come from seeing at least fifty attackers coming their way, he brought up his carbine and fired several rounds, hitting a couple of aliens before he had to move down behind the four door Ford Focus that made up his cover, black scorch marks being left on the car. James pulled his ammo clip out and tossed the empty magazine away before loading in a fresh fully loaded clip into his carbine.
Private Ellis watched as his Staff Sergeant fought. Ellis was a little inspired and he popped up aiming down range and squeezing off a few bursts, he smiled as he hit his mark and the alien he hit fell to it’s knees before falling forward dead, Ellies took aim at another alien and fired again, once again hitting his mark. Ellis watched the alien stagger back before returning fire and Ellis dropped down avoiding the energy bolts. He breathed in before fumbling a little to reload, even though he scored a kill he was still a little out of it during this fight, it being his first.
Corporal Pride moved up a little next to a Marine as he reloaded he went to fire but a flurry of blue bolts flew at him and he took cover but the other Marine got hit and fell screaming in pain as both the side of his face and shoulder were burned badly from the bolts. Pride popped off a few rounds before crouching and grabbing the Marine by the back of his collar pulling him to better cover and shouting.
“CORPSMAN!” Corporal Pride yelled. “Corpsman!” Shaun looked around but no one was coming, more and more Marines went down as bolts of energy came at them and Marines returned fire, the whole intersection was just pure chaos as the battle raged on.
James quickly reloaded, his back to the car and he looked up seeing a column of M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks coming down the street, the lead tank firing it’s cannon and James heard the sound of the explosion and a few screeches, the same screeches the aliens made when they got hit. He smiled a little and sighed in relief.
“Thank God…”
